About Poppy

Becoming a marriage celebrant was actually the outcome of a teenage laugh for Poppy.

One of her best friends met her now-husband, and Poppy was adamant they would end up together. “And I’m going to be the one to lock it in and marry you,” Poppy would say.

When her friend called to say they were set to wed at the beginning of 2015, Poppy set out to see if it was feasible that she could fulfil that teenage promise.

She did – and also found her “thing”.

With a degree in Communications, Poppy worked as a journalist before realising the 9-5 life was not for her. She moved to India to complete her yoga training, which she teaches alongside her celebrant work – both funerals and weddings - and freelance writing. In 2020 she published her first book, The Tale of Poppy and Ed, and her first kids' book in 2023, Otto. She currently lives in Cambridge with her husband ("Poppy Gough" outside work), their much-loved German Shepherd, Sherpa, and their daughter Evie.

Poppy’s focus is on creating bespoke scripts to reflect each and every couple she officiates for. She loves being a part of bringing two futures together, and working with you in preparing, rehearsing and officiating in accordance with your wishes.
