About Poppy

Becoming a wedding celebrant was actually the outcome of a teenage laugh for Poppy. One of her best friends met her now-husband, and Poppy was adamant they would end up together. “You totally will,” Poppy used to say. “And I’m going to be the one to lock it in and marry you.” When her friend called to say they were set to wed in March 2015, Poppy set out to see if it was feasible that she could fulfil that teenage promise. And she did – and also found her “thing”. The role utilises her strengths - organisation, writing, public speaking – and she adores getting to know people, their stories and tailor each ceremony to reflect the the two esposuing.

Poppy has a degree in Communications majoring in Journalism and being awarded Dux every year throughout her degree, Poppy is also a journalist, freelance writer, author, blogger, social media manager and yoga teacher. She opted out of the nine-to-five regimen upon graduating, and spends a significant stint of the year overseas globe trotting, returning to New Zealand to fit in with her wedding schedule. She is about to tackle Everest Base Camp for the second time and is headed to India over the winter months to fully complete her Yoga Teacher Training. Being a writer, Poppy focuses on creating bespoke scripts to reflect each and every couple she officiates for. She loves to share in people’s lives and be part of their future coming together, and is happy to meet up for a chat to see if she may be the right fit for you.
